International 3D Society Bestows 28 Awards at 3rd Annual Creative Arts Ceremony in Los Angeles

“Hugo” Wins 3 Top Honors

“TinTin,” “Puss In Boots,” “The Lion King” and “Pina” Honored

3net, BSkyB UK and NHK Japan Presented with TV Awards

LOS ANGELES — (BUSINESS WIRE) — February 1, 2012 — The International 3D Society bestowed 28 honors for “distinguished achievement” in the 3D creative arts Wednesday night at a black-tie ceremony held at the Beverly Hills hotel in Los Angeles. “Hugo” (Paramount Pictures) swept several categories including: Best Live Action 3D Feature, Best Stereography – Live Action, and Best 3D Moment of the Year. The Society’s Lumiere™ statuettes were also presented to: “The Adventures of TinTin” (Paramount Pictures) for Best Animated 3D feature, “Puss In Boots” (DreamWorks Animation, DWA) for Best Stereography - Animation, and “The Lion King” (Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures) for Best 2D to 3D Conversion.

“Hugo” director Martin Scorsese received the Society’s Harold Lloyd Filmmaker Award, which was presented by Lloyd’s granddaughter, Suzanne Lloyd.

Sony Corporation of America was honored with the Sir Charles Wheatstone Award for education at its Sony 3D Technology Center in Culver City, CA.

“The range and quality of 3D production across all platforms reached extraordinary new heights this year,” said Society Chairman Jim Mainard of DreamWorks Animation (DWA).

“Our theme for the night was ‘art form.’ Our honorees demonstrated that 3D is coming of age as an artistic statement, as well as technical marvel,” said Society President, Jim Chabin.

The Society’s television partner, 3net, a 3D TV channel by Discovery, Sony and IMAX, will air a one-hour special, “Your World in 3D,” highlighting nominated works and red carpet interviews from the Ceremony.

3D Documentary: “Cave of Forgotten Dreams” (Creative Differences)

A special “Jury Prize” for Excellence: “Pina” (Neue Road Films)

Electronic Broadcast Media (Television) – Live Event: “Ayumi Hamasaki: Arena Tour” (Sony Japan)

Electronic Broadcast Media (Television) – Live Sports: “Champions League Final” (BSkyB)

Electronic Broadcast Media (Television) – Ad/Commercial: “Best Buy 3D”

Electronic Broadcast Media (Television) – Short: “Foster the People - Don’t Stop” (Digital Revolution Studios)

Special Attraction – “King Kong 360 3D” (Universal Studios Hollywood)
