Dr. Barry Ryan, President of West Coast University, Praises Orange County Youth Expo’s STEM and Digital Media Arts Showcase

IRVINE, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — April 25, 2012 — West Coast University proudly sponsored the recent Youth Expo, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) and Digital Media Arts (DMA) Showcase to promote STEM-related careers and educational initiatives. Despite the rain, students from around the county were transported to the Orange County fairgrounds and able to explore what West Coast University had to offer, including interaction with a 3G simulation mannequin.

“The Youth Expo was a tremendous opportunity for West Coast University to help the best and brightest students in our community learn about careers that students interested in STEM might aspire to,” said Dr. Barry Ryan, President of West Coast University. “The United States must develop and cultivate students interested in STEM curriculum, and seeing students enthralled by the technology at our exhibits was inspiring. We were honored to be partners in the STEM and DMA showcase and hope to partner with them again in the future.”

PBS SoCal, Southern California’s leading public television station, also attended to tape a public service announcement (PSA) promoting STEM-related careers. PBS crew members were interested in what West Coast University was sharing at the exhibit and interviewed West Coast University representatives about what the college had to offer to youths interested in STEM.

Youth Expo, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) and DMA Showcase was a free event that held exploration exhibits, STEM Digital Media Arts Competition displays, industry exhibits, robotics competition, energy invitational auto competition and job recruitment booths. The STEM and DMA Showcase lasted from April 13, 2012- April 15, 2012 and was held at the Orange County Fairgrounds and Event Center. For more information, please visit: http://www.ocfair.com/ye12/
