New Horizons for Yotta DCL visualised asset management system

May 31, 2012 -- Yotta DCL has launched an innovative Google Maps based highway network asset management system. The Horizons web platform makes it easier for highways departments to visualize, manage and optimise all their asset management records and tasks using a centralised, single cloud-based solution.

With Horizons, Yotta DCL has revolutionised highways software products to provide an intuitive solution that brings data alive for the user. Instead of using disparate applications Horizons brings together GIS, pavement and asset management into a single unified user-friendly hosted system. This combined functionality allows users to manage multiple sets of data, make cost predictions, plan and model various road maintenance scenarios, build schemes and ultimately, make better, more informed decisions.

Developed with input from leading highways authorities since its introduction in April 2011, Horizons has been enhanced with a more powerful analysis module that enables users to forward project and analyse highways defect treatment based on multiple strategies. Users can easily add constraints such as reducing defects over a number of years while comparing the costs for different treatments. This gives an instant view of what is achievable for a given budget and helps guide decision makers to select the optimal solution for their road network.

Users will also be able to analyse data over multiple years to produce accurate projections for deterioration rates over time. For example, the system can predict where future defects and deterioration are likely to appear leading to problems such as potholes. This enables a more informed and targeted approach to highways maintenance and will provide the user with tools to assist in making large cost savings in not only road maintenance but also in the time taken to make decisions.

“Horizons brings a new way to managing the road network, providing full and instant access to important network asset data. Being based on Google Maps it is very easy to use and requires minimal training. The new analysis module is a powerful tool that enables highways departments select the best, most cost-effective treatment strategy to present to their cabinet members. This ultimately speeds up the decision making process and expedites maintenance scheme planning and delivery, which in turn can lead to valuable savings for the authority” said Nick Smee, Managing Director, Yotta DCL.
