Pennsylvania One Call Streamlines Call-Before-You-Dig Ticket Process with TerraGo GeoPDF(R) Maps

Pennsylvania One Call System, Inc. has implemented TerraGo GeoPDF® maps resulting in accelerated Call-Before-You-Dig project review cycles, increased document accuracy and reduced costs.

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) January 23, 2013 -- Pennsylvania One Call System, Inc. has implemented interactive, portable and intelligent TerraGo GeoPDF® maps resulting in accelerated Call-Before-You-Dig project review cycles, increased document accuracy and reduced costs.

Pennsylvania state law requires that excavators notify underground facility owners of their intent to dig. Each year, Pennsylvania 811 handles more than 700,000 notifications, or “tickets” from excavators and sends more than five million messages to more than 3,500 underground facility owners.

Pennsylvania One Call System’s search for a streamlined, accurate, integrated and cost effective solution to integrate maps from disparate sources led to the implementation of TerraGo SDK geospatial collaboration software to produce GeoPDF maps. TerraGo GeoPDF maps and imagery optimize collaboration with facility owners and allow users who do not have access to sophisticated GIS tools or training to access, update and share geospatial information from any source.

“TerraGo GeoPDF solutions bring together geospatial data from our many members’ disparate GIS platforms and create a single, easy-to-read map that makes it easy to assess whether underground assets will be at risk during an excavation project,” said Bill Kiger, president and executive director, Pennsylvania One Call. “Simplifying the process has accelerated project review cycles from weeks to just days and saved excavators, contractors, builders, designers, citizens, and Pennsylvania One Call valuable time and money.”

“Pennsylvania One Call’s application of GeoPDF maps underscores how this versatile technology can enable anyone, anywhere, regardless of their GIS software, to easily update and exchange information, geospatial or otherwise,” said TerraGo CTO and co-founder George Demmy.
