New Colour 3D Printing Capability Available to Photoshop CC Customers

Print directly to the Mcor IRIS 3D printer with over one million colours

DUNLEER, Ireland, Jan. 27, 2014 — (PRNewswire) —  The legions of creatives using Adobe® Photoshop® CC now have a powerful new weapon in their design arsenal: the ability to transform 3D designs directly into physical objects via the world's most colour-capable 3D printer, the Mcor IRIS from Mcor Technologies Ltd.

Announced today at SolidWorks World, the news builds on Adobe's recent unveiling of breakthrough 3D capabilities in Photoshop CC that enable Adobe Creative Cloud™ members to easily and reliably build, refine, preview, prepare and print 3D designs.

With Photoshop CC users' new ability to print directly to a locally-connected Mcor IRIS, they can print their designs in more than one million colours simultaneously, dramatically expanding the possibilities for expressing creative visions and photo-realistically replicating objects they see in the world.

"The Mcor IRIS's advanced colour capabilities are a great complement to Photoshop CC," said Winston Hendrickson, vice president products, Creative Media Solutions, Adobe. "Our customers are masters of colour theory and application, as we see every day in their breathtaking creations. The Mcor IRIS is not only agile in its colour handling, but renders colour brilliantly since ordinary letter paper is the build material."

Green and affordable
Mcor, winner of 3D Print Show's 2013 Brand of the Year Award, manufactures the only line of 3D printers in the world that build objects from ordinary letter and A4 paper. When sheets are cut and bonded together, the resulting model is essentially wood – tough and durable enough to be tapped, threaded and hinged. Models are safe and eco-friendly and can be disposed of in the recycling bin for cradle-to-grave sustainability.

Mcor's 3D models cost 5 to 20 percent of other technologies' models, potentially saving users hundreds of thousands of dollars over several years of ownership. Such affordability makes Mcor's 3D printing broadly accessible, fostering innovation with every user it touches.

Photoshop CC makes 3D printing easier than ever. It includes automated mesh repair and support structure generation to ensure models will be produced reliably. Accurate previews allow creatives to submit print jobs with confidence.

"We are in this business to expand the possibilities of design and make it accessible to everyone, so we couldn't be more excited to join the Adobe Photoshop community," said Dr. Conor MacCormack, Mcor's co-founder and CEO. "We cannot wait to see what new kinds of creations the talented Photoshop community will produce, and we look forward to providing more ways for users to express their visions over the coming years."
