Thornton Tomasetti Presenting 2nd Annual AEC Technology Symposium&Hackathon at TheCooper Union in Manhattan

What: Thornton Tomasetti, the international engineering firm, will present itssecond annual Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) Technology Symposium and Hackathon. Conducted in two sessions, the one-day symposium will focus on computational design and big data. The morning session will highlightrecent advances in computational design, analysis, constructionand fabrication. The afternoondiscussionwill focuson how web-based applications can enhance these processes in the future.A cocktail reception will follow.

A two-day “hackathon”after the symposium will challenge participants to generate new ideas and processes that focus on the following two topics: web-based applications that enhance design and collaboration processes for the AEC industry; and tools and processes that promote data-driven building design.

Where/When: The symposium will take place on Friday, May 16, from 9a.m. to 6p.m. at The Cooper Union, 41 Cooper Square in New York, N.Y.The hackathonwill follow on Saturday and Sunday, May 17 and 18, at the same location. Who: Members of Thornton Tomasetti’s CORE studio will be speaking at the symposium, including Benjamin Howes, MostaphaRoudsari, Jonatan Schumacher and DanielSegraves,as well as Principal Robert Otani. Otherspeakers include Deepak Aatresh of Aditazz and Shane Burger of Woods Bagotas well asrepresentatives from Autodesk, BNIM, CASE, Energy Metrics, Enclos, Floored, LMNTs, NBBJ, Varick Media Management and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Hackathon participants will include ElcinErtugrul, Matthew Naugle and Justin Nardoneof Thornton Tomasetti’s CORE studio, along with representatives from Aditazz, Autodesk, Energy Efficient Buildings Hub, Floored, Mackey Architecture and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.
