GigaTrust Launches New RMS Desktop PDF Client for Adobe with Comprehensive Reporting, Auditing and Compliance Capability

Supports Microsoft's Office 365 Cloud and On-Premise Enterprise Deployments

HERNDON, Va., Sept. 29, 2014 — (PRNewswire) — GigaTrust, the market leader in Enterprise Rights Management (ERM) content security software solutions that enhance Microsoft's basic Rights Management Services (RMS), today announced product availability of a new desktop PDF client that supports both Office 365 cloud and on-premise RMS deployments for enterprises and SMBs. The GigaTrust Desktop Client is the first and only solution that both enables customers to protect, view and share PDFs directly in Adobe Reader or Acrobat and provides comprehensive reporting, auditing and compliance for all security related RMS transactions. For more than 10 years, GigaTrust has been the market leader in providing enterprises with an integrated user platform to extend, enhance and automate RMS security to non-Microsoft file types including PDF, text and image files with over 2 million desktop installations worldwide.

The GigaTrust Desktop Client enables users to protect, consume and share protected non-Microsoft file types in their native application, such as PDF, in Adobe Reader or Acrobat.  Subscribers can apply and have security permissions (or "rights") enforced down to the content level on their emails and attachments. These protections, either manually or automatically applied, are granular and can be configured to inhibit printing, save as, copy/past and renders the forwarding of emails to non-authorized parties or downloading the content to a CD or thumb drive useless.

GigaTrust dynamically protects PDFs as attachments to Outlook emails or stored for collaboration in SharePoint or other file-server sharing systems. It also supports Microsoft's new PPDF format.  However, unlike Microsoft's PPDF document sharing tool, GigaTrust not only persistently protects the PPDF document, which can be rendered in Adobe reader, we provide full RMS security protection to the email message as well- at rest, in transit and in use. This ensures that all of the sensitive information that any enterprise or SMB would need to share with employees, partners and clients is secure and in compliance.

In addition to supporting RMS protection/consumption of PDF in Adobe, GigaTrust has built numerous value-added features into the desktop client that provide the most comprehensive and complete RMS feature set available today, including:

  • Data Overwatch- reporting, auditing and compliance
  • Dynamic Email Protection- automatically protects PDF in Outlook emails
  • Templates- assigns permissions to groups within an enterprise
  • Policy/Rules- automatically protects emails/PDF based on security policies
  • Watermarks- assigns watermarks to protected PDFs
  • Revocation- allows revoking of user rights to RMS protected emails/PDFs
  • Client Side Reporting- creates desktop usage reports for RMS content
  • Screen Capture/Blacklists- blocks 250 screen capture/sharing programs

The GigaTrust Desktop Client allows users to dynamically secure electronic information through policy templates. This provides complete control of who can access specified files, the rights those users have, and for how long they can access the information. Combining the GigaTrust Desktop Client for PDF with Data Overwatch™ and GigaTrust Enterprise Policy enforcement products and services, users and administrators can establish rules that automatically apply policies or templates, track users and documents through the reporting function and revoke access instantly if there is a cyber attack on the network. Reports are provided in real-time about user activity, document access, policy changes, and potential malicious activity. Information remains secure-both online and offline, whether protected in O365 cloud or on-premise in enterprise deployments.

"By creating this comprehensive version of the GigaTrust Desktop Client, GigaTrust continues with our tradition of developing and marketing easy to deploy and easy to use RMS products that provide content security from anywhere--the cloud or on-premise, on any device--the desktop, Android or Apple Smartphones and tablets, no matter where the content is created or how the content travels," said Bob Bernardi, CEO at GigaTrust.
