PLMIG announces the Agenda for PLM and IoT

Oxford, England. December 13 2016 -- Since the division of opinion was highlighted about how PLM relates to the 'Digital Transformation' subjects of IoT and Industrie 4.0 ( MCADCafe Nov. 02), there has been a continuing debate in the USA and Europe. This has provided a clear enough picture to set up a Workshop to resolve the subject.

If guidelines can be established so that everyone can work within a single neutral PLM-IoT paradigm, it will save years of time and effort. A Workshop to establish these guidelines should require two days.

The key to resolving this is to move from distributed hype to a structured Agenda, and the first draft can be found on the PLMIG web site.

Day 1 will open with an explanation of the existing PLM Vision and PLM Maturity tools that can envision the 'PLM Future'. Delegates will be able to make short presentations to the group in an informal debate-style format, and the afternoon session will draft out the skeleton paradigm.

Day 2 is all about producing the working material that PLM Managers can take away and use in their own implementations, so that they are fully equipped to manage PLM amidst the waves of 'Digital Transformation'.

The results of the workshop will be written up and issued to the participants a fortnight after the event. These could be guidelines; methodologies; instructions for the PLM Team; document templates; or perhaps standardised presentations that convey the PLM-IoT message.

The timing and location have not yet been fixed, and in the meantime comments on the Agenda can be made via Email Contact.

The PLM Interest Group
The PLM Interest Group is the leading neutral industry group for PLM. It has produced the PLM Project Justification Handbook for PLM financial justification; the PLMuERP Handbook for enterprise-wide PLM-ERP integration; as well as tools for Benchmarking, Maturity Measurement and Self-Assessment.
