Concept 1 

Land & Surrounding

A building that respects the land and the surrounding environment.

The land is located on the edge of a mountain forest in the Xinyi District of Taipei City (Central Business District of Taipei ). One side of the land faces the busy city while the other faces a vast mountain forest.

The land has a gentle slope of natural terrain that faces the sun. The land shape is also an irregular triangle.

The slightly contradictory environment of city and mountain terrain promotes the potential for different level of integration and transformation.

Therefore, in respect the land and the surrounding environment, our hope is to build a home belong- ing to the nature that anyone would want to live in.

Concept 2 

Building Design

A building that integrates into the mountain landscape.

The front entrance of the building faces two large high-rise building. Thus during the architectural designing stage, we purpose kept the large window opening and living space facing the mountain tree at the other side.

The curved body softens the sharp angle of the adjacent buildings, and the vertical facade line makes it more integrated into the mountain tree line landscape.

In order to emphasize the integration of the mountain landscape, front side of the building uses green-jade like stone surfaces to echoes the mountain.

Concept 3 

Building Entrance

A shinning jewelry box, a conversation starter that leads the way from outer area to the living space.

Since the building is on a hillside, the height difference between the front and the rear is about 16M. In order to overcome the ground height difference of the hillside building itself, a jewelry-box-like building is designed to provide a provisional entrance lobby before entering the actual lobby.

This entrance building has an unique curved features combined with glass ceilings and glass walls. A double-layer glass is used to sandwich the metal meshes of different density that combined with the lighting design to create an added dimension to the city and the environment.

The 10 meter high arch serve as the gateway separating outside space and living space.

Concept 4 

Boundless Lobby

The infinity lifestyle

1. The lobby is 6 meters above the front entrance. Residence would take the elevator up and walk through the garden corridor with water and trees before entering the lobby. Upon entering, one can leave the constant disturbance of the city behind.

2. The main design concept of the lobby is to expand beyond boundaries. We use large picture like window and glass ceiling to expand the view and bring in the light and openness into the lobby. Thus blending better into the environment.

3. At the roof top, an infinity pool was designed to echo the forest line and extend the landscape of the forest into the living space. In this way, the building can be blended into the mountain environment.

Concept 5 

Living Balcony / outdoor

The curved balcony echoes the view of the mountain forest line.

In order to make the living space closer to the natural forest, it is necessary to have enough open space for different activities. The horizontal length of the balcony ranges from 2.5M to 4M. The curved balcony echoes the line view of the mountain forest line.

1. In order to expand the living space to the natural land, we use the special frameless and visually none-obstructed glass armrests.

2. The balcony also has a two-story height that is closer to the sky because the balcony of each floor is carefully placed at different side.

3. Besides, the depth of the balcony floor is lowered by one meter for wider usage – the planting trees and landscaping pools are no longer limited.

Concept 6 

Living Balcony / indoor

Mountain and tree are within the grasp of your finger.

To utilize the outer area and forest view, to blend and connect with the surrounding, the building purposely designed the living space such as living room, kitchen, dinning room with large floor to ceiling glass window.

This design with the addition of our large open balcony, allows the living space and natural space to blend together, which is the ultimate goal of the building design.

Concept 7 

Living Space

Extend the outdoor space into the interior.

1. For the living space, using the natural green tree surrounding of the land as the wall, using see through picture like glass window to extend the outdoor space into the interior.

2. In order to introduce a lot of natural fresh air and sun light, we designed windows for the entire exterior of the eastern area and southern area.

To Minimize the impact of the excessive afternoon direct sunlight on the living space, we reduce the window opening area in the west direction. Thus it can make the indoor tempera- ture constantly comfortable.

Concept 8 

Lighting Design

Harmony between the building and the environment

With preserving the mountain’s rich ecological system in mind, we chose 2400-2700K color temperature lights for the external lights. So that we don’t scare away our little neighbors( Frogs, insects and birds) that have been there long before we came.

We used water-permeable pavement system to strengthen water absorbance, infiltration, and water retention capabilities of the building base and surrounding landscapes.

In order for our residents to truly experience the green environment that the building provides, we created a diversified ecological environment based on the original habitat of the area.
