Public Works Leaders Meet in St. Louis, August 29-September 1, 2021

 

Kansas City, Mo.The most comprehensive gathering of public works officials, educational workshops and exhibits in all of North America will take place at the American Public Works Association’s upcoming PWX (Public Works Expo) at the America’s Center in St. Louis, Mo., August 29 through September 1. More than 2,500 public works professionals are expected to attend PWX 2021. More than 340 companies involved in building America’s infrastructure are set to participate and will occupy nearly 75,000 square feet of exhibit space. Companies will include manufacturers of such products as fabric structures, street sweepers, snowplows, and drainage systems.

APWA’s PWX 2021 will feature the latest in equipment, services, methods and technologies in the field of public works and infrastructure. Attendees will have access to trending technologies and the latest information on such topics as emergency management, homelessness, transportation safety, and water resiliency.

Field experts and consultants will share their knowledge and vision in more than 155 educational, technical and management sessions.

The PWX 2021 event will contribute more than $3,650,000 to the local economy in and around St. Louis.

Featured speakers at the General Sessions include Ben Nemtin, the #1 New York Times bestselling author of What Do You Want to Do Before You Die? who will discuss ways to think differently about leadership and life; and Robyn Benincasa, an extreme performance athlete, a firefighter with 20-plus years of experience, and an award-winning keynote speaker who will discuss unlocking the keys to team success and extreme performance. Nemtin and Benincasa will speak the mornings of August 29 and September 1, respectively.

On Monday, August 30, APWA Chapter Roadeo champions from across North America will compete in the fourth annual APWA National Equipment Roadeo to be held in the Dome at the America’s Center (former arena of the St. Louis Rams). Each competitor will run both a backhoe and a mini-excavator to compete for the title of champion.

The morning of Tuesday, August 31, begins with a General Session focused on community resiliency challenges in response to natural disasters. As First Responders, public works professionals are an integral part of both emergency management and homeland security. The panelists will showcase the role that public works personnel play as First Responders.
