AED-SICAD International User Community Met at the European Utility Forum 2007 in Amsterdam

ESRI Nederland to receive the AED-SICAD Partner Award 2007

May 16, 2007 -- AED-SICAD’s European Utility Forum 2007 took place on May 8 and 9 in the very centre of Amsterdam , the most cosmopolitan Dutch City . It welcomed more than 80 participants who traveled to the Netherlands , coming from altogether twenty different countries world-wide. The guests consisted in equal parts of customers and business partners, complemented by a number of prospects.
The forum is an important pillar for the international ArcFM UT user community, providing the ideal environment for exchange of news and experiences and discussions.

One important highlight consisted of customer experiences, presented by six utilities from different parts of the world: The Dutch clients Delta and Nuon, EWE from Germany , Serbia ’s Belgrade Electricity, Nakheel from Dubai , United Arab Emirates and Estonia ’s gas supplier Eesti Gaas, coming from the Baltic Sea high up North. They gave an insight on their implemented ArcFM UT products, discussed different aspects of the project scope and also, being especially interesting for the participating utilities, gave specific reasons for their decision in favor of ArcFM UT. This resulted in a nice overview, how a standard utility application is in use not only in different countries throughout Europe and the Middle East, but also by a variety of different utilities in terms of size and type: The speakers consisted both of brand new AED-SICAD customers and also long-term clients with a wholly different background, who had just finished their data migration from the existing SICAD software.

The other important focus of the conference was, of course, the ArcFM UT product family, its practical use, life presentations and a look at the road ahead, etc.  Like the year before in Paris , the two-hour-live-product-show represented a univocally impressive prelude to the subsequent papers. It covered numerous new and revised features of the ArcFM UT product suite. Many different topics, like asset management, reporting assets for the regulatory authorities, analysis of assets for the purpose of sales and marketing, web-based tools and last but not least the elaborate tools and workflows for capturing and maintaining utility asset data were covered.

Other interesting presentations covered the generalization software ArcFM UT IGEN, applications for outage management, construction site information (call before you dig) and others. The sewage solution novaKANDIS was presented by AED-SICAD partner M.O.S.S.

Apart from afore the central location of Amsterdam , there was a further reason for selecting the Netherlands as the conference venue: They are the home of ESRI Nederland, AED-SICAD’s most successful International business partner.

On Tuesday afternoon, following an entire “Dutch Session” in the program, including two Dutch customers and a presentation from ESRI Nederland, its director Mark Herbold was pleasantly surprised, when AED-SICAD’s CEO Werner Lück congratulated him and his company to receive the “AED-SICAD Partner Award 2007”, granted for the first time.

Within only two years, ESRI Nederland contributed considerably to the success of AED-SICAD by winning four new ArcFM UT customers in their sales territory, among them the largest utilities of the Netherlands . And, of course, this was another reason for choosing Amsterdam as the venue – to actually come closer to these new members of the user community.

Equally important, this year’s Utility Forum was again a big success, because of basically “social” reasons. People appreciate to meet other users and having the opportunity for discussions and talks in relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.

For the location of the Utility Forum 2008, there are already numerous candidates. Nothing is decided – the only thing sure is that the choice will be more than hard!
