NAVTEQ Works With SIGSA in Launch of Online GPS Device Store Aimed at Mexican Consumers

CHICAGO, May 20 /PRNewswire/ -- NAVTEQ, the leading global provider of digital map, traffic and location data that enables navigation and location-based platforms around the world, announced its collaboration with SIGSA (Sistemas de Informacion Geografica S.A. de C.V.), a leading distributor of GIS solutions and ESRI software in Mexico, in the launch of an online web store ( www.TiendaGPS.com.mx) which offers Garmin branded GPS devices and products aimed specifically for the Mexican market.

SIGSA is a premium distributor of Garmin recreational and navigation devices in Mexico, and www.TiendaGPS.com.mx represents SIGSA's first direct-to-consumer venture. The site features high-quality products from Garmin including PNDs, handheld recreational devices, accessories and digital map CD-ROMs featuring NAVTEQ(R) map data. SIGSA also plans to open two brick and mortar stores in Mexico City by end of May 2009.

Garmin PNDs are powered by NAVTEQ digital maps. The NAVTEQ map of Mexico includes 2,454 cities, more than 450,000 km of roads and 31 states including the Distrito Federal. In addition to road network coverage, the Mexico map contains a full set of features including more than 59,000 points of interest (POIs) such as restaurants, hotels, gas stations and banks enabling users to select their destination either by address or the POI listing.
