Qbase releases geospatial data tools

DAYTON, Ohio, — January 18, 2010 — Qbase Inc. today announced release of a new, specialized suite of data quality tools that allow transformation and visualization of geospatial information for business intelligence and decision-support.

Qbase Data Transformer™ delivers the new capabilities. They include the ability to integrate geospatial data from more than 200 different geo-coordinate systems to create a consistent format and utilize a single geo-coordinate reference. “Our clients can eliminate the wasted time of working through a hodge-podge of data formats and coordinates, and instead choose the single format that’s most helpful in viewing the data,” said Bill Pardue, Qbase chief executive officer.

For example, Pardue said, “Government agencies need to integrate many sources of geospatial data from disparate systems. With this new version of Qbase Data Transformer™, customers can rapidly integrate data from a variety of formats and from coordinate systems such as latitude/longitude/height, National Grid Systems and State Plane coordinates.”

The user-friendly Qbase software also can ingest millions of different addresses in the United States and append one or more geospatial coordinates of the client’s choice. This feature allows users to add location information to its client database to identify important clusters and trends. Qbase Data Transformer™ can also be used to perform data analytics on geospatial data, including correlation analysis to identify location relationships to other variables or key performance indicators.

The addition of geospatial capabilities extends the utility of Qbase Data Transformer™. It already profiles, cleanses, converts and transforms a wide variety of data types – from healthcare statistics, to financial, demographic and logistics data. Clients may choose to stream the data by either transaction, or batch, and view reports on invalid data that are automatically generated. The solution also will match and link related records.

Qbase Data Transformer™ accelerates the extraction, transformation and loading of data into hyper-drive. The software can be used on a stand-alone basis or easily integrate within other geospatial software, such as solutions that generate shapefiles to convey geospatial information. Shapefiles can spatially describe specific geometries that can represent bodies of water, for example, and have descriptors such as names or temperature readings.

Currently under development, Pardue added, is an additional version of Qbase Data Transformer™ that goes far beyond the traditional ETL tools for textual data to encompass medical imagery for healthcare diagnostics.

Qbase provides leading solutions in data cleansing, management and analytics for the military, healthcare organizations, businesses and government agencies. The technology company also delivers IT services across business, nonprofit and government sectors. For more information, visit www.qbase.us.
