Carmenta sees an increased need for Linux digital map systems - Releases Linux version of its Carmenta Engine map engine

March 23, 2010 -- Carmenta sees an increased need for Linux digital map systems. Which is why the company is now releasing a Linux version of its Carmenta Engine map engine. The new version is based on the existing Windows version, and enables cross platform development of map systems.

“We have seen a more increased demand for a Linux version in recent years. The interest comes partly from existing customers who want their systems to work on several platforms simultaneously, but it’s also about older Unix systems which need to be updated to Linux, where customers also want to upgrade to a faster and more modern map system. We are extremely pleased that we can now offer a Linux version at the same level as our Windows version,” says Andreas Björnberg, Product Manager at Carmenta AB.

The Linux versions supported are Red Hat 5.4, SUSE SLES 10 and Ubuntu 8.04.
