Blue Ridge Numerics Launches CFD-University

New suite of continuing education programs and live seminars empower customers to increase proficiency and maximize the investment in CFdesign directly from each engineer’s desktop

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — September 16, 2010Blue Ridge Numerics, Inc., the leader in upfront CFD software, today announced the launch of CFD-university. CFD-university supports expanded use of CFdesign through on-demand self-paced fundamentals training, advanced training and a series of live application specific Webinars. This new suite of training options, available to active maintenance customers through the CFdesign Customer Portal, provides ready access to the theoretical and practical information necessary to solve flow and thermal problems within a digital prototyping process.

“CFD-university provides an informative, efficient on demand resource for CFdesign customers seeking to begin or further develop their knowledge,” explains Jason Pfeiffer, VP of Engineering, Blue Ridge Numerics. “This new resource will expand the reach of CFdesign to more engineers on the team, allowing companies to realize the quality and innovation advantages available from our product.”

The fundamentals training session is tailored towards design engineers new to CFdesign and provides a comprehensive, step-by-step approach for learning the fundamental elements and workflow of CFdesign 2011, from initial model set-up to navigating through a complete multi-scenario design study.

The Advanced Training sessions are on-demand videos for more experienced users that have a sound understanding of the CFdesign fundamentals and are ready to apply those elements to specific industry applications. Each of these process-focused videos runs about 30 minutes in length and focus on best simulation practices for applications in industries such as electronics, lighting and architectural engineering.

The online CFdesign Webinar series are ongoing educational seminars that highlight advanced functionality and tips and tricks for approaching specific problems for the highest degree of design insight in the shortest time possible. Customers have both the option to attend these live interactive events or later watch the archived Webinar.

About CFdesign

Using CFdesign, engineers are able to make insightful design decisions based on fluid flow and heat transfer simulations while continuing to work in their CAD environment. The simulations begin from within the CAD system using the design study manager, and the native model along with its associative information is opened within the CFdesign design study environment. The unique multi-scenario design study environment in CFdesign 2011 allows engineers to view multiple designs at one time and visually compare the different results. CFdesign enables engineers to obtain accurate simulation results early in the development process where the value of true upfront computational fluid dynamic (CFD) software is greatest.
