Society of American Registered Architects to Hold 54th Annual Conference in the City of Brotherly Love

PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 20 — (PRNewswire) — The Society of American Registered Architects (SARA) will hold its 54th annual conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, October 7-10, 2010. Philadelphia prides itself in its unique and varied architectural history. The city features a diverse range of architecture dating from the 1800's, such as the colonial-era houses in Elfreth's Alley, to the brand new Comcast Center, the country's tallest green skyscraper.

 

CEU seminars will be held on a variety of topics such as, an ADA Update on State and Federal Requirements from United Spinal Association, Green Building Law, Sustainable Design, and Legal Issues. The national conference will begin with two pre-conference events on Wednesday, October 6th, a Golf Outing at Chester Valley Golf Course in Malvern beginning at 11:00 AM and in the evening where the film Visual Acoustics, will be presented at the auditorium of the Philadelphia Community College at 17th and Spring Garden Streets. It will continue Thursday October 7th, with a Reception at the Poggenpohl Showroom in Olde City Philadelphia. Friday October 8th, SARA will acknowledge award recipients at the Celebration of Architecture and Design Awards Banquet. The recipients are selected from a nationwide search for projects with extraordinary design accomplishments.

The remainder of the conference will feature many more events including:

  • City tour of 18th, 19th, and 20th century significant architectural projects.
  • President's Award Celebration Dinner, honoring International Award Winners Denise Scott Brown, Robert Venturi, and Louis Kahn (posthumously) and featuring the Philadelphia Mummers.
  • Presenting The National Museum of American Jewish History with the Society's Distinguished Building Award.
  • A look ahead to San Diego in 2011.
