News Alert: Congressman Mo Brooks Welcomes Bentley Colleagues to Company’s New Office in Huntsville, Ala.

Newly Renovated, Energy-Efficient Facility Underscores Bentley’s
Commitment to Environmental Stewardship

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. 28 June 2011 Bentley Systems, Incorporated, the leading company dedicated to providing comprehensive software solutions for sustaining infrastructure, today celebrated the opening of its new office in Huntsville, Ala., with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Alabama Congressman Mo Brooks. The newly renovated two-story building will accommodate Bentley’s future growth in the region and underscores the company’s commitment to environmental stewardship. Located in Cummings Research Park, just four miles from downtown Huntsville, the building comprises 24,000 square feet of office space. It features open views with plenty of natural light and includes energy-saving features such as a highly efficient lighting system, a white roof that reflects heat, and low-flow plumbing fixtures. In addition, the construction materials used in the renovation, including paint, sealant, and carpeting, are low in volatile organic compounds. When combined with Bentley’s indoor air quality plan and no-smoking policy, these materials help create a healthier, more environmentally friendly workplace.

In welcoming the Bentley colleagues to their new facility, Congressman Brooks said, “Cummings Research Park is one of the largest research and technology parks in the United States, and Bentley Systems’ decision to locate here is a testament to the highly skilled and dedicated workforce that North Alabama offers.”

Rob Whitesell, Bentley senior vice president, said, “Our new Huntsville office provides us with additional space and a pleasant working atmosphere that will help Bentley attract top-tier talent as we continue to grow our organization in this region. The park’s scenic surroundings, which include walking trails, benches, picnic tables, and a beautiful lake, were exactly what we were looking for when deciding on a new site. Moreover, we were able to secure the entire building, giving us more latitude in ensuring its renovation was aligned with our corporate commitment to the environment.”

Waste-saving initiatives implemented during renovation included recycling as much as 75 percent of construction debris and reusing at least 10 percent of the doors, frames, and cabinets, and 20 percent of ceiling tiles and metal cubicle framing. These actions reduced the amount of materials headed for landfills.

Additionally, in an effort to lower Bentley’s carbon footprint, the Huntsville location has installed bike racks and shower facilities to encourage cycling to work, and some parking spaces have been allocated to colleagues who enlist in carpools. Colleagues can also use shuttle-bus service from downtown Huntsville to the new building.
