The company's Q4 2011 revenue came in at 22 percent above Q4 2010, while full-year revenue grew by 15 percent over fiscal 2010. During the quarter, Accela won numerous new and upgrade customers for its enterprise Accela Automation® software and related solutions across its core business areas of licensing, permitting, and asset management.

"Government leaders understand that success in today's challenging climate requires maximizing resources, empowering their employees, and improving methods of citizen engagement," said Maury Blackman, President and CEO of Accela. "Our end-to-end solutions and mobile device apps are helping agencies get the job done by automating important functions, equipping mobile workers with on-the-spot data and maps, and giving citizens new ways to connect to government services. In addition, our fiscal 2011 accomplishments underscore the fact that Accela remains at the forefront of making government easier, faster and more accessible."

Accela's Q4 contracts spanned a range of government types and sizes in the United States and abroad. Sample wins in the quarter included the following.

  • The City of Melbourne, capital of the province of Victoria and epicenter of Australia's second largest metropolitan area, plans to deploy Accela Automation in its Health Services Department to streamline the monitoring and inspection of businesses, and ensure compliance with food and public health laws. The city will also use Accela Mobile Office™ software to give field-based inspectors access to back-office maps and data.

  • The City of Miami Beach, Fla., one of the world's top tourist destinations, is upgrading to Accela Automation from a back-office Accela product in order to create more consistent business process throughout the city, leveraging data and workflow capabilities across function areas, and providing 24/7 online access for businesses and the public via Accela Citizen Access™ software. When completed, the end-to-end system will support over a dozen city teams and departments, including: Land Use Management, Plan Review, Permitting, Finance Fee Generation/Collection, Inspections, Fire, Public Works, Code Compliance, the City Clerk's Office, Parking, and Sanitation.

  • Nebraska state capital Lincoln is also upgrading from a back-office Accela product to Accela Automation, as part of the administration's overall commitment to technology enhancements for city government. A cornerstone of the city's vision is to build an accessible enterprise system that can manage, review, report on data and share information across multiple departments and easily grow with the city's population and evolving needs. Accela Automation met the city's requirements and will be used by the departments of Building, Planning, Safety and Public Works.

Using Accela Citizen Access, Fredericton intends to provide residents and businesses with 24/7 online access to request and pay for permits, track request statuses, and share data with city staff. Accela Automation's integrated geographic information systems (GIS) capabilities will also enable staff to view properties geospatially and compare service requests against property data.

  • Baltimore County, Md., is a suburban region of over 800,000 residents and located north of the city of Baltimore. The county is embarking on 23 major technology initiatives designed to improve citizen service and modernize the county's business processes.
