The City of Arlington Texas Leverages e-Builder as Its Capital Program and Project Management Platform

e-Builder, a recognized leader in the development of capital program management software, announced today that The City of Arlington, Texas, is leveraging e-Builder to track and manage capital improvement projects, including water, sewer, drainage, roadway, facility construction, and park projects. e-Builder and the City of Arlington, TX have built a strong working relationship after e-Builder was selected as its web-based capital project planning, management, and construction accounting software to replace an outdated mainframe system.

e-Builder is being used by the Departments of Public Works & Transportation, Water Utilities, and Parks & Recreation to manage ongoing capital improvements programs, a combination of vertical projects and horizontal projects. e-Builder was selected because it met the majority of the City’s technical requirements out of the box and proved to be the most cost effective solution. The integrated Cost Module is enabling the CIP team to easily allocate and track monies from different funding sources.

“e-Builder gives us a much better tool for managing funds, so that we can efficiently manage multiple pots of money that cannot be combined” said Jill House, Assistant Director of Public Works and Transportation. Since e-Builder also maintains historical data, public requests for information can be addressed quickly to improve customer response times. As the sole project management system, it is helping the city automate the process of tracking and maintaining a variety of contract types, tracking and forecasting costs, managing contract changes, managing project schedules and maintaining all project documentation. e-Builder has also been integrated with the City’s existing Lawson Financials software and ESRI GIS. The integrated Reports module is providing stakeholders with up-to-date access to more accurate project status information that provide visibility into invoice payments, retainage, and capital expenditures. Reporting capabilities also provide immediate visibility into available funds for new projects, how these funds are being spent on ongoing projects, and on the status of different projects across multiple City Council districts.
