The birthplace of the Model T, the recently restored 110-year-old Piquette plant in Detroit's mid-town area is now open to visitors and available for special events.

With more than 4,000 members and 127 chapters worldwide, the Model T Ford Club International is the oldest active Model T club. The club publishes the Model T Times, a journal dedicated to the history and preservation of the Model T; sponsors numerous events and tours, scholarships; maintains a website, and hosts an Internet discussion forum for Model T owners.

"Our partnership with the Model T Ford Club International is an important milestone for the Ford Piquette Avenue," said Jerald Mitchell, president of the Ford Piquette Avenue Plant.

"We have a lot of great ideas for our collaboration and mission to increase public interest in automotive history and the Model T. Potential programs include displays and added vehicles in the Piquette museum; joint articles and advertisements in the Model T Times; special admission rates for members, and a professional library."

Built in 1904 the Ford Piquette Avenue Plant is the first manufacturing facility owned by Ford Motor Company. It is the birthplace of the historic Model T and the manufacturing site for earlier Ford "Alphabet cars."  More than 12,000 Model T's were produced at the Piquette location before production was moved to Ford's Highland Park plant in 1910.

Today the Ford Piquette Avenue Plant is a designated historic landmark. It represents the world's only early assembly plant open to the public, after being transformed into a museum in 2013.

The Ford Piquette Avenue Plant also is available for private parties, weddings and corporate functions. More information on the Ford Piquette Avenue Plant and the Model T Ford Club is available at http://fordpiquetteavenueplant.org/ and http://www.modelt.org/.
