The Hollywood Reporter Wins 2015 ASME National Magazine Award for General Excellence

Also nominated for Magazine of the Year, The Hollywood Reporter celebrates the industry honor following a website redesign and amid record-breaking digital growth

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 2, 2015 — (PRNewswire) —  The Hollywood Reporter was named winner of the 2015 ASME National Magazine Award for General Excellence in the category of Special Interest Magazines. The award was presented to Guggenheim Media's Entertainment Group co-President and Chief Creative Officer Janice Min at the American Society of Magazine Editors' award dinner in New York.

This marks the first National Magazine Award, or "Ellie," win for THR, also nominated this year for Magazine of the Year and in 2014 for General Excellence in the Special Interest category.

"This is truly a humbling and defining moment in our publication's history to be recognized by our industry peers for editorial excellence," Min said. "This honor is very much a tribute to the excellent journalists at The Hollywood Reporter who work tirelessly to provide readers a behind the scenes look into the entertainment world, and for that I am very grateful."

The Hollywood Reporter beat out Harvard Business Review, Inc., Mental Floss and Texas Monthly in taking the award for General Excellence in the Special Interest Magazine category.

The National Magazine Award win comes on the heels of a number of highly influential industry events hosted by THR; most recently a Nominees Night reception honoring the actors, directors, and producers nominated for the 87th Annual Academy Awards and the star-studded Women In Entertainment breakfast this year honoring Shonda Rhimes.

The Hollywood Reporter marked a number of key milestones in 2014, including an all-time record high of 17.1 million monthly unique visitors in August, as well as the netting of its first Emmy Award for four staffers for its roundtable conversation, The Hollywood Reporter in Focus: The Wolf of Wall Street, airing on PBS, which featured Martin Scorsese, Terence Winter, Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill.

The Hollywood Reporter made waves with landmark entertainment coverage in 2014, including its investigative exposé on Los Angeles' anti-vaccination trend, "Hollywood's Vaccine Wars," which The Atlantic featured as a must-read and which was widely cited by news outlets from The New York Times to the Wall Street Journal.
