NEW YORK, Feb. 18, 2015 — (PRNewswire) — To pay respect and honor the memory and legacy of the late human rights leader and international icon, El Hajj Malik El- Shabazz (a/k/a/ "Malcolm X"), X Legacy and the daughters of Malcolm X are proud to announce and participate in an international "Moment of Transition & Prayer" on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 3:10pm EST -- such date and time shall mark the 50th Year Anniversary of his death.

"Throughout the 50 years since the 1965 assassination of my Father before my eyes, the resonance of his loving, and engaging presence in our home and in my life directly, still accompanies me strongly. As an up close witness to a mindful evolution, my Father's life serves as an everlasting inspiration to exhibit respect, compassion and consideration of all People. He was-- is a gift for me and I am touched that his life continues to nurture others," says the eldest daughter, Ambassador Attallah Shabazz

There will be numerous special programs and commemorative events on February 21st.  In Harlem, New York at The Malcolm X and Dr. Betty Shabazz Memorial and Educational Center (formerly, Audubon Ballroom), the annual program will be produced to illuminate the ideals and life works of Malcolm X in the very location he was martyred.  In Oakland, California, there will be a Bay Area Unity Vigil and Prayer commemorating the 50th Year Anniversary of the Martyrdom of Malcolm X.  Likewise, college students around the country will be organizing special remembrances of Malcolm X, such as UC Berkeley where a coalition of student groups will host a program entitled "From the Audubon To Ferguson: 50 Years Later, The Struggle Continues" (with an honorary tribute to Yuri Kochiyama), among many others.

As this year also marks the 90th birthday of Malcolm X (on May 19, 2015), there will be a worldwide call for a special holiday honoring Malcolm X called the "International Malcolm X Day," to celebrate his life and legacy.

In a series of future events, conferences, performances, and programs, the Shabazz Family and X Legacy shall engage with community and world leaders, scholars, authors, students, artists, social responsible organizations, and members from the global community.
