Choosing the right content for the viewer watching the screen is the holy grail of digital signage. IAdea developed a system based on the Intel® Open Pluggable Specification to enable Responsive Signage, or digital signage that plays in response to the viewer's shopping journey pattern. It is powered by an Intel® Atom™ processor running IAdea® Anbedded™, an industrial-grade version of Google's Android™ operating system that further provides an analytics engine. Advanced Anbedded™ features available on Intel architecture include:

The Intel® architecture provides additional computing power over alternative system-on-chip hardware so that more functionality can be achieved with one device. One great addition to Anbedded™ enabled by the Intel® CPU is the ability to compute in-store foot traffic analytics in real-time, which usually needs to be delegated to an external server computer which introduces complexity and risks of failure into a deployment. The EL-10-based player is connected to an array of IAdea's ArrFi™ sensors which collect radio signals emitted by the shoppers' mobile phones. While conventional Android-based devices may suffice for simple media playback, the device based on Intel® Reference Design for Digital Signage (EL-10) provides additional computing power to enable real-time analytics and personalization of digital signage content at the edge. This allows for innovative applications with significant cost savings over conventional architecture.

"IAdea packs a significant amount of robustness features and advanced content personalization technology into Anbedded™, the industrial-strength improvement over Android," says Intel's Jose Avalos, Worldwide Director of Visual Retail. "This will quickly enable a wide range of market leading digital signage products."

"The EL-10 platform gives us the needed computing power to provide critical functionalities on a small, low power device," says John Wang, CEO of IAdea. "By combining Intel® technology with optimized IAdea Anbedded™ middleware, the industrial-grade version of Google's Android™ operating system delivers the most reliable, IAdea delivers Internet-of-Thing-ready and responsive digital signage solution to the market."

Interested system integrators and retailers are invited to meet up with IAdea at Retail World Asia for discussion in detail on Intel's stand R01.
