DVCon Europe 2017 Firmly Established As The Premier European Electronic Design and Verification Forum

Conference Provides Practical Detail on Innovative Solutions for European Electronic Design and Verification

Munich, Germany-  2nd January 2018 - The Design and Verification Conference & Exhibition Europe (DVCon Europe) 2017, sponsored by Accellera Systems Initiative, saw strong attendance and an impressive technical program.  The overall registration number for DVCon Europe 2017 was 280 participants, of which 126 were first time attendees. The attendees represented more than 79 separate companies and organizations from 22 countries. The number of industry-oriented paper and tutorial submissions increased, and the event attracted 21 exhibitors. This year’s conference included two keynote speeches from industry luminaries, two panel sessions and a networking reception.

DVCon Europe 2018 will be held at the Holiday Inn in Munich, Germany on October 24th and 25th, 2018.

The award for Best Paper, as voted by conference attendees, went to Hagai Arbel, Anna M. Ravitzki, and Uri Feigin from Vtool Ltd. for their paper entitled “Between the Dialog and the Algorithm or Innovative Technological Narratives Leveraging the Idea of Authenticity in a Human Being.”

“Yet again, DVCon Europe has delivered on its promise of the premier electronic design automation forum in Europe, meeting a clear need for practical, detailed information on state-of-the-art development methodologies,” noted Oliver Bell, DVCon Europe General Chair. “This year’s conference was particularly exciting with two dynamic keynote speeches, overwhelming tutorial and paper submissions, and a vibrant exhibition. Now that DVCon Europe is established as the must-attend event in Europe for Engineers to upgrade their skills, we are planning an even larger event in 2018.”

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE WEEK

The first day of the conference commenced with an insightful keynote from Dr. Horst Symanzik, the Director of Integrated Circuit Engineering at Bosch Sensortec, Consumer MEMS Products: Quality Over Commodity. The day featured a series of 16 tutorials, providing attendees with a rich choice of technical updates and instruction on subjects including UVM-based Verification, SystemC System Level Verification, Safety-Critical Verification, Accellera’s emerging Portable Stimulus Standard, Formal Verification and Analog/Mixed-Signal Design and others.

“I’m very pleased to see that DVCon Europe is promoting the verification theme with a high level of competence,” noted Dr Horst Symanzik, the Director of Integrated Circuit Engineering at Bosch Sensortec, and DVCon Europe Keynote Speaker 2017. “It is tremendously important for the success of our products.”

The second day started with a keynote from Berthold Hellenthal, Head of the Progressive Semiconductor Program at Audi AG, entitled, “ Driving Virtual Prototyping of Automotive Electronics.” The day then featured nine paper sessions covering the topical subjects, including UVM, Formal, Mixed Signal, SystemC, and Advanced Verification Techniques. The day also included two panel sessions, “ The Best Tools for Driving Safety and Security in Automotive Applications” and an

Intelligent Automation: How to Decide What to and What not to Automate?,” where standardization plans and processes were covered in an interactive session.

Running coincidently over both days was the well-attended exhibit where the latest tools and IP from leading vendors was on show for all attendees. On day one a networking reception was held on the show floor, bringing together attendees, tool providers, and other conference stakeholders.

“Great content.  Engaging crowd.  Inspiring keynote.  Overall an excellent conference,“ stated Lu Dai, General Chair of Accellera.

The DVCon Europe Steering Committee values all feedback regarding the conference.  Attendees have been given a survey and are asked to provide input on how to make DVCon Europe 2018 even better.

“I was very impressed by the conference – a genuine “learning” feeling throughout,” said Hobson Bullman of Arm, and DVCon Europe Keynote Speaker in 2016.

The 2nd edition of Accellera’s SystemC Evolution Day was co-located with DVCon Europe 2017, following its successful launch last year. The Accellera Systems Initiative announced a new library release for the SystemC core language, advancing the SystemC Ecosystem at this event.
