Augmented and Mixed Reality Software to Improve Community Access in Remote Northern Communities in Canada

Kognitiv Spark announces a partnership with LOOKNorth to use RemoteSpark, their Augmented Reality (AR) and Mixed Reality (MR) worker support software, to improve maintenance for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in remote northern communities in Canada. The solution will be demonstrated in the field through a partnership between LOOKNorth and Igutchaq UAV, a professional UAV and GIS services company based in Inuvik NWT. Igutchaq UAV trains and facilitates certification of UAV pilots from communities in the Inuvialuit Settlement Region and the Gwinch'in Settlement Area. The services offered by Igutchaq UAV will directly support regional priorities ranging from the effects of climate change on Inuvialuit and Gwinch'in culture to sovereignty and food security.

FREDERICTON, New Brunswick, Jan. 24, 2019 — (PRNewswire) —

FREDERICTON, New Brunswick, Jan. 24, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Today Kognitiv Spark announces a partnership with LOOKNorth to use RemoteSpark, their Augmented Reality (AR) and Mixed Reality (MR) worker support software, to improve maintenance for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in remote northern communities in Canada.

"The costs and logistics of training and maintenance support can be considerable when deploying technology in Northern and remote locations," said Neil Cater, LOOKNorth Project Manager. "RemoteSpark can reduce the need for costly travel and lead to more cost-effective remote operations."

The software, designed for the Microsoft HoloLens, will be used to facilitate repairs and maintenance on UAVs operating across the Inuvialuit and Gwinch'in territories. The solution will save equipment downtime and travel costs, while delivering enhanced training and support for locals and ensure that the UAVs are operational when needed.

"We're thrilled that RemoteSpark can help improve safety and day-to-day living in northern communities," says Kognitiv Spark CEO Yan Simard. "We're really looking forward to the positive outcomes for this project."
