Cityworks Provides County Complete Solution for Asset Maintenance Management

St. John’s County, FL Utilizes Cityworks for Asset and Financial Management Needs

February 5, 2007 -- Sandy UT — Azteca Systems, Inc., the leading provider of GIS-centric asset maintenance management solutions, announced today that St. John’s County, FL is using Cityworks for asset management and utilizing the new Cityworks budgeting tool to assist in the county’s financial management. The combination of asset and budget analysis tools has been beneficial to the county, giving them a complete solution for their needs.

Before using Cityworks, the St. John’s County Public Works department worked in a paper environment where everything related to accounting for assets was documented manually. They wanted to move to a computerized system that would provide a more efficient way of tracking and managing data. After researching several software packages, St. John’s chose to employ Cityworks as their asset maintenance management system. Along with the user-friendliness of Cityworks, St. John’s County selected Cityworks for its strong GIS-centric approach. The County began implementing Cityworks in September of 2005.

“Our implementation of Cityworks went well and the results of the system have exceeded our expectations,” said Gail Oliver, County Surveyor at St. John’s County. “The fact that it is GIS-centric really drew us into the product. Adaptability, user friendliness, and configurability are all aspects of the product we have been very pleased with. We can tailor the software to our needs and it offers a lot of flexibility.”

In addition to using Cityworks for traditional asset management, St. John’s County uses Cityworks to assist in their financial management. The Cityworks budgeting tools allow users to track costs associated with assets, making it possible to pinpoint expenses for a single asset over a period of time, track costs in a particular area or region, and plan future year budgets.

“When using the Cityworks budgeting tools, everything comes into place by showing the costs associated with assets and mapping them out geographically,” says Rocky Agbunag, Asset Management Coordinator, St. John’s County. “The tools allow the Public Works Department to maximize our efficient use of resources and better describe our results, ideas and financial needs to upper management. In addition to many other benefits, the tools have given us a better estimate of how much will be spent in upcoming years to maintain our current level of service.”

“St. John’s County is a superb client and we are excited about the success they have had using Cityworks coupled with our new budgeting tool,” says Brian Haslam, President of Azteca Systems. “We are seeing more and more organizations realize the benefits of combining asset and financial management, and I am confident any organization that chooses to practice this type of collaboration will be very pleased with the benefits it brings. Cityworks is a superior product and our customers continue to reap the benefits of using it.”
