Cityworks 2010 User Conference Exceeds Expectations

GIS-Centric Maintenance Professionals Exchange Knowledge and Experiences

May 24, 2010 -- St George, UT — More than 400 attendees from around the world gathered at the Cityworks 2010 User Conference in St George, Utah. Hosted by Azteca Systems, Inc., the leading provider of GIS-centric asset management solutions, the conference attracted Cityworks users and partners from the United States, Canada, and Sweden, despite challenging economic conditions and strained budgets.

"The Cityworks 2010 User Conference was fantastic,” reported Rob Mateja, GIS Manager, Town of Colonie, New York. “This was my first trip to the Cityworks User Conference and will definitely not be my last. The look at future releases, networking opportunities, access to key Azteca staff, and hospitality made this conference incredibly valuable to both me and our agency. It was truly a great experience!”

The conference began with an impressive plenary session where President and CEO, Brian Haslam, introduced the attendees to Cityworks 2010, Azteca Systems next-generation of GIS-centric maintenance and land management products. Haslam also shared his vision of Cityworks while orchestrating the presentation of new products and features. Touching on the challenges facing public agencies – economic uncertainty, reduced resources, technology-driven expectations – he recognized Cityworks users provide critical and crucial services to their constituents and emphasized Azteca Systems’ continuing commitment to provide software and services to support them in meeting these challenges.

“For many of you, Cityworks is your GIS," Haslam told the group. "The pillars upon which we built this company have remained unchanged. Azteca Systems pioneered the idea of GIS-centric management software and this is core to Cityworks. Yet Cityworks is much more. While Cityworks is powered by ESRI, your GIS becomes empowered by Cityworks!”

The plenary session adjourned with a tour of the spectacular scenery of nearby Zion National Park followed by dinner, entertainment, and socializing. The remaining two days were filled with user and partner presentations featuring topics such as performance-based budgeting, fleet and facilities management, operational awareness, advanced asset management, field mobility, migrations to Server, integrations with other business systems, emergency planning, and specific Cityworks applications. A variety of exhibitors were on hand in the Exhibit Hall to answer questions and showcase services and complementary solutions. Sixty members of the Azteca staff were present at the conference and could be found throughout the facilities hosting and sitting in on technical sessions, answering questions in the Doctor’s Office, and meeting with clients.
