TAIPEI, Taiwan — (BUSINESS WIRE) — June 1, 2010 — CyberLink Corp. (5203.TW) will demonstrate some of the advanced features of their next-generation webcam software at the Computex show this week in Taipei. This advanced video software delivers visual effects that until now have only been fictional concepts simulated by Hollywood movies to consumer webcam recording software. At CyberLink’s suite in the Hyatt Hotel, press and industry partners can get a taste of these exciting new capabilities.

While chatting with friends or family, these effects let you create and control virtual, computer generated objects that behave as if they are real objects being held and manipulated by you. The application recognizes real world objects in the video, generating and compositing a scaled 3D virtual object onto the webcam video in real-time. This amazing real-time visual effect adds many creative and fun options for interacting with friends and family over a video chat, or for creating videos with your webcam.

With 3D augmented reality effects, the opportunities for consumers to have fun while connecting with friends or just being creative on their own are nearly endless. “Augmented reality is one of the most exciting new technologies, and it is a perfect fit for Cyberlink’s video creation software applications,” said Alice H. Chang, CEO of CyberLink. “This is our first application to incorporate 3D augmented reality in a way that is fun, fascinating, and easy for everyone to enjoy. It’s just one example of how CyberLink intends to lead the way when it comes to delivering fun and exciting new features that empower the creativity of consumers.”

CyberLink’s 3D augmented reality application is planned to be released in second half of 2010.
