The biennial International Dental Show in Köln, Germany is a meeting place for worldwide dental technology suppliers, dental laboratories, and dentist. This meeting from March 22-26 has been marked on many calendars for the two years building up to the show
Recent changes in dental CAD/CAM technology include a strong emphasis on “open architecture” dental technology process chains. Dental laboratories and milling centres can combine best-of-class solutions for independent technology providers, using a variety of scanning devices, dental CAD software, dental CAM software and machine tools. Further, machining technologies including milling machines, automation robots, cutters (burrs), and fixturing solutions can be sourced from a number of top performing companies.
This is a departure from historical dental solutions that simplified the purchasing cycle with one-button closed-architecture solutions. The downside of those solutions was low- and standard-performance, not achieved by today’s high-performing open-architecture solutions.
