Ever wanted to do one of those large city flythroughs? I have and I show a scene file of the East End of London in a single Carrara file! Like http://www.facebook.com/scififunk for more.

A Proper set of tutorials will follow but for now I source GIS data from OpenStreetMap, feed it into CityEngine, output as a set of 3ds files into Carrara.

Sounds easy? It's not. There are many technical difficulties to overcome, namely hold so much data in one Carrara file and how to render without your PC melting on each frame.

Btw using proxies I am down to 1 min 20 secs a frame on a single i7 machine. Network that and this is a very render-able scene at the moment. « Less
