Continuing on the exploration of what certain stylised astronauts might look like if they were more realistic, here are the 70s and 80s versions of PLAYMO-SPACE spacemen figures from Playmobil. For the 3D&D Klingon.

Look around on ShareCG and you'll find I've already made GE-5P, the Playmobil R2-D2 knockoff, so your figures will have a companion. I might make some of the tools and gear--radios, drills, grabby things, inscrutable things that look like snorkels with handles, and a sort of laser-torch (but not like a cutting or welding torch or a flashlight, but rather like the sort you hold up in a dungeon, except high tech)--though I'm trying to think of how to, and how much to, de-stylise them as they are not much more complex than a Lego tool. I also have a half-modelled Playmobil space station. Yup, the whole thing. (Well, OK, not the whole thing because it's only half done, but it's meant to be once it's done.)

As always, I don't restrict what you can do with renders from this (provided you're not banned from using the assets altogether--you know who you are), but if you use it in a for-profit commercial way that isn't protected under fair use conditions, then the makers of Playmobil might have something to say about that. It's admittedly a little bit fuzzier with toys than with stuff from movies and TV, but copyright may apply. Probably does. (Anything made after the Berne convention that can be copyrighted is, but some Playmobil designs are actually older than that, and design patents don't apply unless you're making other toys from them. This may be one of the fuzziest IP law areas known.) « Less
