We have suspended this Challenge and hope to re-initiate it once the following is resolved:

We received 5 entries.  But, NONE of the people  who entered followed any of the Challenge’s rules or guidelines.  They ALL simply pushed over one work of their existing art from the site, and none of it has anything to do with this Challenge.  It’s as if no one actually read the Challenge document.

We launched this Challenge as a serious way to have CG artists enter serious and well documented work and we spent months putting together the SCG Evaluation Board, made up of high-level industry professionals to judge the work so the entrants could be evaluated and recognized in the film/animation industry.    We spent time and good will arranging for some extremely nice prizes (Cinema 4D Pro, Digital Tutors, and Keyshot).


We also contacted many PR people from the studios and arranged to send them the best works targeted at their studio.  These actions would have given participants a good chance of being seen in the industry and could very well have helped propel their career.


It seems that we did all this work for nothing and I am disappointed to say the least.


We’re retrenching and rethinking this, and if we can arrive at a Challenge that our audience is willing to take seriously we’ll start again.


Please send me any and all comments and ideas.  We want this to work out and are searching for an answer.

The Star Search Awards Challenge

Choose a studio whose work best fits your artistic style and sensibilities.  Then,  create one or more works of CG Art as if you were applying for a  position at this studio.   You can submit any artwork that you feel is themed to make an impression  on the studio you've chosen.  

Thank out of the box!  The judges told me that they want to be  pleasantly surprised by something they haven't seen before or that's  done so well and so unique that it's awesome!

Win big!  Prizes include Cinema 4D Pro from MAXON, a one year subscription to Digital Tutors training and a full Luxion KeyShot render license.

ENTER EARLY This challenge will be judged by a combination of our ShareCG Evaluation Board and ShareCG  member input and the earlier you enter the better chance you'll have of  being selected.

We're looking forward to seeing some outstanding entries, and even if you don't win you may receive a prestigious Star award for your wrok from our Evaluation Board.
