Hi and this contest and challenge certainly sound interesting. I've read the rules but have a question or two. As this is a 2D and 3D thingy..are they two different categories?..that's 2d as of 2d and 3d where post work is not allow? If this is not so..can I use 3d as a platform and finished it as a 3d still with post work and end product is a 3d?...hope my question is clear though.

Thanks for any reply in advance.

Hi ... It's not both, it's either or .... so you can submit either 2d or 3d art.  A couple of people have already sent in their work.  You can view them by clicking on 'art' from the main menu.  From within the Art section expand the categories list by clicking (more) and, check "Halloween Challenge" then click Find and you find them.

 Best of luck!!

Sounds like a fun competition, from where do I get these CGTools that we have to use?

If you don't have any CG tools and haven't used them you're probably not ready yet to participate. But, if you're a quick learner, and would like to get involved, you could use open source tools like Blender (which is available here and on the Blender.org site) and other free tools that you can find here and on the web. Also, most companies offer trial versions of their software. For example, Caligari offers a trial version of TrueSpace, NextLimit offers a trial version of Maxwell Render, and most other vendors do also.

Good luck and enjoy!

hello there :) i noticed that everyone who has entered the halloween contest so far, including myself, has done 3d art with post work of 2d. and then i noticed your message that said entries can be either 2d or 3d but not both. so now i am in a panic because i dont know if i have to make a new picture and re-enter or if what i have already entered is ok.

Your entry is fine, and actually great!  I think we're splitting hairs here ... all we're looking for is a work of CG art ... it can be done totally in 3d, or totally in 2d, or using a combination of both techniques.

Another question.  I can't find any info on specifics of what needs to be uploaded.  I mean format (.jpg .gif .bmp etc.), Resolution and max file size.  Also do we need to make a thumbnail of a certain size?

The short answer is  yes.  Photography as one element in the composition is OK.   However, this is a CG Art (Computer Graphics Art) contest, so the bulk of the work should be YOUR creative 2d or 3d art work.

Hi .. re mature nudity ... it should really be 'artistic nudity' ....  Take a peek at the entrants and you'll see some and you'll get the idea.  Just upload a .jpg.  We don't have a size restraint, just submit a size that makes sense for this web site.

 Good luck!!

I think most entries will come in a few days before the contest is closed. Because some artists won't to be cloned. Wink

Hey,

You just log in, click "upload" on the top right, go to "3d and 2d art", upload your artwork, and make sure to click "Halloween Challenge" as one of your categories.

Hi, I uploaded a Halloween Contest image and put it into the correct catergory but when I do a search for Halloween Challenge, only 59 images show up and mine is not one of them.  Did I do something wrong?  I don't want my image to be missed in the judging :(

Are you sure you put a check in the "Halloween Contest" checkbox?

Hi, yes, I did put a checkmark next to the orange words 'Halloween Challenge' on the upload page.  This is correct, right?

Edit:  I was originally Burpee but that was for Bea and me.  I am no longer with the store so I created NGartplay as a new persona.  Burpee will eventually be closed but we are leaving that up for a bit as lots of our freestuff is there.  Could it be that NGartplay is too new?  Do I have to upload it as Burpee?

That is correct. Did you check every page of the contest for your entry? I know it should have been on the first page since you just uploaded it, but it wouldn't hurt to check the rest of the pages just in case there is a date bug somewhere. Laughing

EDIT: I just found your image on page 1 Second row down.

Hi, thanks for looking but when I do a Halloween challenge search I still only get those 59 images.  Could you show me the page you are seeing it on?  I'd like to view all of the entries too.

Hugs, Nancy

LOL! Yep. It helps if you search by putting a check box in just the Halloween Challenge check box on the search pane. Wink
