Something strange is going on: Items that obviously *were* OK before (otherwise they wouldn't have received so much thankyous ;-) DL as corrupt zips, or the obj file is broken, or whatever. Random example: http://www.sharecg.com/v/48053/View/5/3D-Model/Watering-can - the *.max doesn't unzip, the *.obj does look uncanny (sorry for the lousy pun :-). I suspect it's the ShareCG server itself (aging HDD raids? What do I know...).

What is wrong here? For sure it's not *my* connection (or browser), I checked that.

(Please don't spank me if this is a well-known issue that had been addressed in the forum before, just link me to the thread...I just flew over the recent thread list.)

I'm thinking there's a server problem.  Items I was able to find LAST NIGHT are gone today.  I know the search engine was broken, but it now seems to only be returning files that are younger than 6 months (actually, it may be less than that, I was seeing 4 months pretty consistantly but I haven't had time to check thoroughly).  This is just plain weird.

We looked at a number of old and new 3D model uploads and haven't spotted a problem.  For example, the recently uploaded Sofa at http://www.sharecg.com/v/68368/browse/5/3D-Model/Furniture-Sofa-w/-Pillows is just fine.  We did see that the Water Can 3D model referenced above does seem to have a corrupt .obj file.  But, we don't know whether or not this has been like this since day one or if something has happened since it was uploaded. We will continue to monitor this situation and take corrective action as needed. 

Regarding the search -- We pulled the top search off the site since it wasn't working effectively.  However, the search that's found in each category (for example when you click 3D Models from the top nav bar) is very effective and does pull results from as far back as 6 years ago.  Also, if you're looking for a specific member just add the member's username to the end of the ShareCG URL and you'll be taken directly to that member's Gallery or Porfolio.  For example, www.sharecg.com/<username>.
