I want a tutorial to render video for TV, sure we know the frame speeds but what size in pixals or inches to assure that it wont be crap on the new flat screen HD units. tricks to save render time. every time I forum post the question I get the same answers that are no real help. I work in poser and carrara  and compose in preimer on but it would be better if the info was accrossed platforms and software.

OK, here are the basics for pixel ratios.

VHS - 352x240

SVHS - 640x 480

DV - 720x 480

720p HD - 1080x720

1080p HD - 1440x1080

The 'p' in the HD represents 'progressive scan'. This means there is a FULL frame for each 30 frames of video instead of the 'i" (interlaced mode) which is 60 fields of half res frames blended together to form a full frame. Interlaced is something to stay away from, it;s what the base NTSC mode is and why HD was invented ... TO GET RID OF INTERLACING!!! So if you have a 720i or 1080i HD TV, YOU GOT SCREWED!!! LOL

Tricks for speeding up renders. Turn shadows off on lights that don't need them. Use the lowest rez model you can get way with and use texture, bump, specular, et al, maps to make them 'look' better. If you can afford a render farm, build one! Above all, DON'T listen to the pros. Bigger is not always better, higher rez is NOT always the solution to better images, AND Poser can be used in a professional environment! LucasFilm does it all the time but will never admit to it!
