TREK, INC. Introduces New High-Speed High-Voltage Power Amplifier

Model 20/20C-HS to be featured at NA-PAC'13 for use in Particle Accelerators, Plasma Research and Dielectric Applications

LOCKPORT, N.Y., July 31, 2013 — (PRNewswire) — TREK, INC., a designer and manufacturer of high-voltage power amplifiers and high-performance electrostatic instrumentation, will introduce a new high-speed, high-voltage amplifier – Model 20/20C-HS – at the 2013 North American Particle Accelerator Conference ( NA-PAC'13) being held September 29October 2 in Pasadena, California. Visit Trek at Booth #61.

This new +/-20 kV four-quadrant DC-stable amplifier provides high speed of response with slew rate greater than 800 V/us, output current to +/-60 mA peak AC, and large signal bandwidth of DC to greater than 5.2 kHz (1% distortion).

Model 20/20C-HS expands Trek's High Speed Product Line and will enable technological advancement in many industries including aerospace, automotive, biotechnology, defense, electronics, energy, instrumentation, laboratory, medical, military, power, semiconductors, and telecommunications.

Applications include use in particle accelerators, plasma research and dielectric applications. Additional applications include AC or DC biasing, delta tan testing, dielectric barrier discharge, electrocoalescence, electro-optic modulation, electrospinning, electrostatic deflection, fusion research, insulation breakdown testing, ion beam steering, material characterization (ferroelectrics) and material poling.

Model 20/20C-HS features an all-solid-state design to deliver high slew rate, wide bandwidth and low-noise operation. This amplifier provides precise control of output voltages in the range of 0 to +/-20 kV DC or peak AC with an output current range of 0 to +/-20 mA DC or +/-60 mA peak AC for 1 ms. It is configured as a non-inverting amplifier with a fixed gain of 2000 V/V.

The four-quadrant, active output stage sinks or sources current into reactive or resistive loads throughout the output voltage range. This is essential for achieving the accurate output response and high slew rates demanded by reactive loads. Model 20/20C-HS is protected against over-voltage and over-current conditions that may be generated by active loads or by output short circuits to ground.

Precision voltage and current monitors provide low-voltage representations of the high-voltage output and load current for monitoring purposes or for use as feedback signals in a closed loop system.

The remote high-voltage on/off feature provides a connection for a remote device to turn on/off the high-voltage output, making Model 20/20C-HS suitable for automated or computer-controlled systems. It is CE compliant.
