PTC Works with Colorado State University to Deliver Authorized Training Program for Product Design and Development Technology

Continues commitment to community with CAD design courses for students and engineering workforce

NEEDHAM, Mass. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — March 25, 2014 — Continuing with its mission to provide best in class teaching and learning to its customers, PTC (Nasdaq: PTC) today announced it is working with Colorado State University to deliver an authorized training program for PTC software. Colorado State University students and PTC customers will have access to the same curriculum and methodologies offered by PTC University combined with subject matter expertise from one of the top 100 engineering colleges in the United States.

Colorado State University has a long-standing relationship with PTC teaching industry-recognized product design software to undergraduate mechanical engineering students. CSU chose to teach PTC products to show the power of commercial software and provide a well-rounded educational experience spanning beyond computer-aided design courses and into senior design courses through collaboration and curriculum.

Colorado State University also has strong ties to local engineering and manufacturing companies and works to place graduate engineers for employment and internships with local and state wide businesses. “With our state-of-the-art facility, links to industry and specially equipped engineering computer labs, becoming a PTC Authorized Training Partner in order to expand the curriculum and technology into the community was a natural fit,” said Dr. Patrick Burns, Dean of Libraries and Vice President for IT, Colorado State University.

“The training program CSU offers with PTC is unique,” said Barry Brinks, Adjunct Faculty at Colorado State University. “For the first time we are showing not just the basics of how PTC Creo® CAD software can be utilized, but also blending it with exciting new technologies such as additive manufacturing and 3D scanning to create a unique learning experience for PTC customers and students at the university.”

Students and individuals who successfully complete this coursework on PTC Creo and on PTC Windchill® collaboration software will receive a certificate of completion from Colorado State University.

“In addition to the coursework offered by Colorado State University, the opportunity for PTC to expand its current training portfolio will help our customers seeking continuing education and professional development alternatives,” said John Stuart, senior vice president, global education, PTC. “We are pleased to work with the University to give students and others the opportunity to learn about product design software and technology that’s being used by many global manufacturers.”
