Canal 5 Studio Selects InterSpec Specification Services for Hyatt Place Hotel

March 27, 2014 - InterSpec Inc., the industry leading provider of construction specification software and specification writing services, is pleased to announce that it has been selected by Canal 5 Studio as the lead specification consultants for the Hyatt Place Portland-Old Port hotel.  The project, scheduled for completion in early 2014, is located at the corner of Fore and Union streets in the heart of the historic Old Port, in Portland, ME.  The design for the new mixed-use development – including a seven-story, 130-room hotel and 1,000 feet of retail space – is a convergence of the area’s historical legacy and contemporary flair.

Navigating a number of historic district guidelines while upholding green-building design standards, InterSpec Specification Services provided Canal 5 Studio with the expertise they needed, authoring a well structured and coordinated project manual. Pioneers of specification solutions, InterSpec’s team welcomed the challenge of Canal 5 Studio’s unique architectural features – notably a stunning six-story, corner glass crinkle wall. The hotel is designed and specified to meet green-building standards by incorporating aspects such as LED lighting, low flow water solutions and sustainable products.

"We have worked on a variety of projects with InterSpec’s Specification Services and they were our obvious choice for this project,” said Tim Hart, Principal at Canal 5 Studio.  "Working with InterSpec has saved us time and cost on the overall project and provided us with tight and well-coordinated specifications.”

Since its founding in 1998, InterSpec's expert team of specifiers have completed hundreds of project manuals for projects of all shapes and sizes in nearly every state in the country, as well as internationally. By using its industry leading e-SPECS specification software, InterSpec can most readily apply customer's preferred design requirements to the specification content while providing a streamlined, convenient way to collaborate with the customer's in-house project team.

"Leveraging our specification experience with the ease and functionality of e-SPECS software has given us the edge on hospitality projects such as the Hyatt Place Portland-Old Port hotel,” said George Libby, Director of InterSpec's Specification Services. “While the demands of today’s construction market can be progressively high, we commend Canal 5 Studio for their emphasis on delivering design services that meet and exceed owner’s requirements.”
