Western Farmers Electric Cooperative Equips Field Techs with Motion® Rugged Tablets Powering GIS-based Mobile Solution

WFEC and Motion to Present Mobile Success Story at the 2014 Esri International Users Conference

AUSTIN, Texas — (BUSINESS WIRE) — July 15, 2014Motion Computing announced today Western Farmers Electric Cooperative (WFEC) has improved operational accountability and reporting by extending its Esri geospatial information system (GIS) into the field on Motion® Rugged Tablets with Blue Dot® Mobile Field Service Solutions. Motion and WFEC will share details on the successful project at the Esri International Users Conference this week in San Diego.

“WFEC has been an ideal customer to work with since the beginning,” said Scott Rehling, Partner Manager at Motion. “WFEC had clearly defined project goals, had a solid understanding of the specific workflows they were automating and had a specific set of technical requirements. In addition to measuring candidate capabilities against defined goals and requirements, WFEC included end-users in their device selection, which ultimately led to the benefits WFEC is reaping today. End-user acceptance is a key part of overall mobile solution success.”

WFEC and Motion will present “Mobilizing Utility Field Workers with GIS: Lessons Learned” on Thursday, July 17 at 8:30am in the session “Expanding GIS Across the Enterprise.” Motion will also be onsite in the Esri exhibit hall, Booth 2416, showcasing its portfolio of rugged tablet platforms, including the latest R12 Tablet and array of workflow-enhancing accessories.
