Sep 22, 2014 -- In September 2014 LiDAR USA placed a multiple unit order for the new Velodyne VLP-16.

Velodyne announced a pre-order purchase option earlier in September with initial availability likely late 2014 or early 2015.

The VLP-16 is likely to create an increased demand from the UAV market with its smaller size, lighter weight, lower price and increased scanning range.

ScanLook already works very well with the Velodyne HD32 in applications for ground, water and UAV. Adding the VLP-16 is a natural extension to the Snoopy system.
