Just In Time For Pi Day 2015, Cano Ozgener Shares His Art With The World

The Creator of Pi Synesthesia Prepares for Pi Day Event and Launches New Website

NASHVILLE, Tenn., March 9, 2015 — (PRNewswire) —  Cano Ozgener has been many things in his professional life: engineer, entrepreneur, philanthropist, cancer survivor and founder of OZ Arts Nashville, the city's popular new contemporary arts center.

He is now channeling all of those experiences into modern art, in particular, his series of works called Pi Synesthesia that combine the digits from the mathematical constant Pi and number synesthesia where numbers are represented as colors and/or shapes.

"I have been inspired by artists who have combined geometry and science in their art, such as Sol Lewitt," Cano (pronounced "JOHN – oh") said. "To me, Pi represents infinite possibilities – both literally and figuratively – to view art through a mathematical lens. A logical extension was then to combine the digits of Pi with colors and shapes to form a unique synesthetic experience."

His Pi Synesthesia series includes everything from a mural stretching 12' x 4', to paintings, to pendants and more. He works in various mediums including acrylic, PVC, wood, metals and semi-precious stones. Cano is constantly seeking new forms and media to express his vision.

"I'm particularly excited about Pi Day 2015 on March 14 at OZ Arts," he said. "I'll be showing my works, and we have invited other artists who share a passion for both mathematics and art. I am eager to see the unique works at this show on a day that was made for me, so to speak."

Cano's portfolio extends well beyond Pi Synesthesia and contains more than 100 works drawing largely upon his youth in his native Turkey and his love of meerschaum pipes. He is currently planning a sculpture garden next to OZ Arts Nashville.

Cano recently launched www.CanoOzgener.com with a complete portfolio of his work and is publishing a coffee table book entitled Cano Ozgener: Life Made Me An Artist ... At Age 70 which will be available this summer. His Facebook page is www.facebook.com/CanoOzgenerArt .
