MamaBear Expands its Leading Mobile Parenting Application by Acquiring KidNotice

Acquisition to Add Private and Secure Cross-Family Information Sharing to The Ultimate Parenting App™

SANTA MONICA, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — March 10, 2015 — MamaBear®, the leading mobile application and digital resource for protecting and connecting families in the digital age, announced today that it has acquired the assets and proprietary intellectual property of KidNotice, an application that allows parents to privately and securely share vital emergency and personal information about their children with other parents and trusted care givers. KidNotice is MamaBear’s first acquisition since the recent appointment of Suzanne Horton, former American Express venture capital executive, as the company’s Chief Executive Officer and President, and comes on the heels of the significant partnership and integration announcement with TeamSnap.

“MamaBear continues to expand the capabilities of our platform as we seek to build the most comprehensive mobile application that meets the rapidly growing need for a private digital resource to help parents and families stay informed, connected and safe in a complex and, at times, dangerous digital environment,” Ms. Horton said. “We have built and are continuing to enhance a valuable parenting tool that leverages the power of digital technology to help parents efficiently communicate with their children, extended families and other families, as well as better manage interactions, activities and shared information. We knew it was a win to acquire KidNotice as their unique assets further our lead in helping parents to protect children, and the acquisition plays well into our overall accelerated growth strategy.”

With the acquisition of KidNotice, parents using the MamaBear app will soon be able to selectively, securely and efficiently share with other parents, trusted adults and care givers vital information critical to ensuring their children’s safety and well-being. This cross-family information sharing capability will add to MamaBear’s powerful all-in-one safety and awareness tool, which offers a unique set of social media monitoring features, family mapping, customizable safe and restricted place alerts and online reputation management tools, as well as alerts to cyber threats towards children. In addition, MamaBear also creates a private place for families to communicate, share and stay abreast of family activities such as kids’ team sports information.

As Ms. Horton has noted previously, more than 27 million kids have smartphones today in the U.S. alone, and the segment is projected to grow 44% to more than 39 million in just two years. In addition, 72% of teens have a social networking profile, almost 25% of whom log in at least ten times a day. As a result, protecting children in the digital world is an increasingly complex task for parents, particularly when cyber predators use social media sites in 82% of cases to find a way to connect with children. “With more than one million cybercrime and cyberbullying victims per day globally, part of MamaBear’s mission is to help parents become more educated on how to safeguard their children and provide them with efficient tools to help them do so,” said Ms. Horton.

The developers of the MamaBear family safety and communication application are parents themselves. They also are proven digital leaders and seasoned technology entrepreneurs with a passion for fostering family unity, organization, safety and peace of mind parenting.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
