Rockchip Licenses Arteris FlexNoC Fabric IP for RK Series SoCs

Network-on-chip interconnect IP provides strategic cost and time-to-market advantages to leading Chinese application processor vendor

CAMPBELL, California — March 18, 2015 —Arteris Inc., the inventor and only supplier of silicon-proven commercial network-on-chip (NoC) interconnect IP solutions, today announced that Rockchip, a leading fabless semiconductor company and mobile system-on-chip (SoC) provider, has chosen  Arteris® FlexNoC® fabric IP to be the on-chip communications backbone for its complete RK series of application processor SoCs.

“Our extensive use of Arteris FlexNoC interconnect IP has enabled us to increase the number of complex SoC designs we can implement in a year, with the same amount of resources.

Our collaboration with Arteris is a key factor in enabling us to be both technology and time-to-market leaders with advanced designs.”

Li Shiqin, IC Design Director, Rockchip

Arteris FlexNoC interconnect has been proven in three generations of Rockchip SoCs. Rockchip has licensed Arteris FlexNoC IP since 2012. Since then, Rockchip has implemented FlexNoC IP in many of its complex application processor designs.

“Our extensive use of Arteris FlexNoC interconnect IP has enabled us to increase the number of complex SoC designs we can implement in a year, with the same amount of resources,” said Li Shiqin, IC Design Director at Rockchip. “We are always looking for ways to differentiate our product portfolio, and our collaboration with Arteris is a key factor in enabling us to be both technology and time-to-market leaders with advanced designs.”

“Rockchip’s adoption of Arteris FlexNoC has been an important success factor for both companies,” K. Charles Janac, President and CEO of Arteris. “We are proud to be a technology enabler for Rockchip as it has grown to be a leading designer of sophisticated SoCs in China.”
