Keynote Address is entitled “It is not the Disability, It is the Ability”

Apr 8, 2015 -- The Coordinate Metrology Society (CMS) today announced Dana Bowman, retired Sergeant First Class and member of the U.S. Army's elite Golden Knights parachute team , will serve as the keynote speaker at the 31th Annual Coordinate Metrology Systems Conference (CMSC), July 20 – 24, at the Diplomat Hotel in Hollywood, FL.        A double amputee due to a parachuting accident, Bowman has inspired audiences all over the world with his "life without limits" story. Through hard work and firm resolve, Dana was the first double amputee to reenlist in the Army and later become the Golden Knight's lead speaker and recruiting commander during his 20-year military career.

The 2015 CMSC will officially get underway with Bowman's keynote address starting at 9am, Tuesday morning, July 21. The 5-day conference attracts 3D industrial measurement professionals and scientists serving in industries such as aerospace, automotive, shipbuilding, power generation, and more. Each year, the event serves up an unrivaled slate of expert-level technical presentations in the field of metrology.  It is the world-leading forum to share information, discuss industry best practices, and learn about applications of portable 3D coordinate measurement systems, scientific research and developments, technology management, and measurement strategies.

Bowman has presented more than 400 speeches in the last few years, and received numerous accolades including a Bronze Star for Valor. He has been featured in popular magazines such as Sports Illustrated and People's Magazine, and made TV appearances on Dateline NBC, the Discovery Channel, the History Channel, Real TV, CBS: Eye on America, A Current Affair and more.

Dana is currently working on designing parts for prosthetic limbs to improve their function, and leveraging the benefits of measurement technology. During his personal time, he works with other amputees and disabled or physically challenged people. Other projects in the till are a book and a movie about his inspiring "triumph over adversity" life. In addition to a full-time speaking career, Bowman enjoys scuba diving, bicycling, snow and water skiing, snowmobiling—and skydiving.
