Nominations for EDA Industry's Prestigious Phil Kaufman Award Open Through June 30

SAN JOSE, CA and NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwired) -- Apr 14, 2015 -- Nominations are being accepted now through Tuesday, June 30, 2015, for the Phil Kaufman Award for Distinguished Contributions to Electronic Design Automation (EDA), sponsored by the EDA Consortium (EDAC) and the IEEE Council on Electronic Design Automation (CEDA).

The award honors individuals whose contributions made a significant impact within EDA in business, industry direction, promotion, technology and engineering, educational or mentoring. Impartiality is provided to all nominees, without regard to race, gender, age or national origin.

"The IEEE Council on EDA is pleased to partner with the EDA Consortium in seeking outstanding nominees for the 21st Phil Kaufman Award," said Sani Nassif, President of IEEE/CEDA. "The 2015 recipient will join a select group of individuals who have helped advance EDA and thus the electronics industry."

John Kibarian, co-chair of the EDA Consortium and President & CEO of PDF Solutions, added, "The EDA industry continues to address the complex challenges faced by electronic designers. The Phil Kaufman Award honors individuals whose outstanding contributions have helped shape the industry."

Established in 1994, the award is in honor of EDA industry pioneer Phil Kaufman, who turned innovative technologies such as silicon compilation and emulation into businesses that have benefited electronic designers. The 2014 recipient was Dr. Lucio Lanza, Managing Partner at Lanza techVentures, LLC, for his substantial impact on EDA through his strategic and financial assistance to innovative EDA companies.

About the IEEE Council on EDA

The IEEE Council on Electronic Design Automation (CEDA) provides a focal point for EDA activities spread across six IEEE societies (Antennas and Propagation, Circuits and Systems, Computer, Electron Devices, Microwave Theory and Techniques, and Solid State Circuits). The Council sponsors or co-sponsors over a dozen key EDA conferences, including the Design Automation Conference (DAC), the International Conference on Computer-Aided Design (ICCAD), Design Automation and Test in Europe (DATE), the Asia and South Pacific Design Automation Conference (ASP-DAC), and events at Embedded Systems Week (ESWeek). The Council also publishes IEEE Transactions on CAD and IEEE Embedded Systems Letters. Since its founding, the Council has expanded its support of emerging areas within EDA, sponsored new initiatives, and increased recognition to members of the EDA profession via awards such as the A. Richard Newton and Phil Kaufman Awards. The Council welcomes new volunteers and local chapters. For more information on CEDA, visit: ieee-ceda.org.
