First Ever Virtual Reality Sculpture Exhibition

First ever virtual reality art experience launching 7PM, 14th of July on Northern Territory rooftop (12 Franklin, Greenpoint)

NEW YORK, July 13, 2015 — (PRNewswire) — Virtual Borders is a project that combines high-end technology and art in order to fully immerse the spectator into the experience. Three large-scale sculptures were built and installed in the middle of nowhere in the Arizona desert and viewers are invited to experience the desert via virtual reality here in Brooklyn. The surroundings become an inseparable part of the pieces taking the term site-specific art to new heights. Art and technology both have the power to influence the way people experience the world. Together they could become an influential mechanism for change. Installations by Brooklyn based Mr. Toll, curated by Gabija Grusaite, virtual reality by VirtuEye.

Virtual Borders Arizona takes the audience down to the Arizona desert showing that in this powerful, terrifying terrain human imposed borders are insignificant. Raw, unforgiving nature stretches for hundreds of miles both sides – it was here before humans and it will be long after we are gone. The recent urge by those in power to close borders flashes a deja vu as it feels like we are going back. American dream is built on immigration. Those who come are not murderers or rapists, they are just people looking for an opportunity to succeed. They risk their lives in the desert for a better life and they deserve to have a voice. Everyone who pursue the dream to succeed needs to cross a metaphorical desert. It is not only about immigration, fundamentally our modern world is enabled by free movement of people, ideas, art and cultures across the world and trying to control that limits the creativity and progress. All borders are virtual borders.

Please join us on Tuesday, 14th of July, 7PM to experience the Arizona desert via virtual reality and to meet the artists. Virtual Borders Arizona will take place on the rooftop of Northern Territory, 12 Franklin St. in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, New York City, New York.
