KYOCERA Introduces New Wide-Screen TFT-LCDs for Industrial Applications

New 10.1” and 12.1” WXGA TFT-LCDs maximize information visible onscreen

PLYMOUTH, Mich. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — August 3, 2015 — Kyocera today announced two new wide-format (16:10) TFT-LCD displays that are in volume production and ready to ship: the new 10.1” and 12.1” WXGA TFT-LCDs.

Wide-format TFT-LCDs provide a sleek, modern design aesthetic and allow more information to be displayed on a single screen. The increased resolution and wide aspect ratio provide greater detail and sharper imaging, making them ideal for all industrial display needs — including medical, agriculture, test and measurement, and marine applications.

Kyocera’s new 10.1” WXGA (TCG101WX) TFT-LCD display features 1280 x 800 resolution, with a brightness of 500cd/m2 and 800:1 contrast ratio. With an 80-degree viewing angle in both the horizontal and vertical directions, this display is powered by high-efficiency LED backlights and boasts a low total power consumption of only 4.46W.

Kyocera’s new 12.1” WXGA (TCG121WX) TFT-LCD display features 1280 x 800 resolution, with a brightness of 500cd/m2 and contrast ratio of 750:1. Powered with Kyocera’s Advanced Wide View (AWV) technology, this display achieves a wide, 85-degree viewing angle in all directions: left, right, top and bottom, and eliminates color inversion.

It’s easy to incorporate these new displays into compact equipment designs, because no additional components are required to drive the backlights: Kyocera’s LED driver circuit is integrated into both the 10.1” and 12.1” LCD modules. The new TFT-LCDs are designed with a standard LVDS interface and offer a wide operating temperature range of -20º to 70º C.

“Kyocera brings almost 40 years of experience in LCD technology innovation, making the company a preferred supplier of displays for industrial, automotive and medical equipment,” said Cynthia Ferrell, Vice President of Kyocera Industrial Ceramics Corporation’s Display Division. “We continue our commitment to developing environmentally friendly products; all of Kyocera’s TFT-LCDs are RoHS compliant to reduce potentially hazardous substances.”
