August 19, 2015 -- Arithmetica, the company behind SphereVision, will showcase its 360 degree video imaging solutions at the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Offshore Europe, the leading international Exploration and Production Event. The SphereVision range of recording, processing and playback solutions allows for the creation of fully interactive 360 degree videography of oil and gas installations and facilities’.
With the ability to integrate floor plans, structural drawings and other types of documents, the SphereVision solution is ideally suited for offshore applications including risk assessment, training and familiarisation, facilities management as well as emergency planning, incident response and post incident analysis and investigation.
The SphereVision virtual reality environments can even be viewed using head mounted display devices for an immersive experience, allowing a user to explore an installation or premises in detail from the safety of a classroom or office.
Mark Senior, Business Development Manager at Arithmetica, is excited at the potential of both the SphereVision and Pointfuse products for those involved in the offshore exploration and production of oil and gas. “By capturing real world detail either as video footage or using a laser scanner, we can help those working in the offshore industry see a real world, three dimensional view of exploration or production facilities from wherever they are.
“This has already been successfully used within the industry as a tool for training for health and safety, with virtual reality simulations as well as more detailed modelling of infrastructure and environmental conditions.”
Arithmetica will also be demonstrating its fully automated point-cloud-to-CAD-model conversion and visualisation software. Pointfuse is a powerful modelling engine which provides an astonishingly fast, precise and flexible way of converting the vast point cloud datasets generated by laser scanners or photogrammetry into high fidelity vector models.
Designed for engineers, architects and construction professionals, Pointfuse uses advanced statistical techniques to create vector models which can then be manipulated using any industry-standard CAD system. Applications for the offshore industry include facilities management, asset monitoring and management as well as environmental monitoring and exploration.
Offshore Europe is the leading international exploration and production event. A biennial conference and exhibition for the oil and gas industry, Offshore Europe is expected to attract from them 60,000 industry professionals with 40-plus free conference sessions, 34 international pavilions and 1,500-plus exhibitors. Offshore Europe takes place on 8-11 September 2015 at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre in Aberdeen, Scotland. Arithmetica will be demonstrating the SphereVision and Pointfuse products on Stand 2A84.
