Everest DVD Out Jan. 19 Sees Author/Everest Survivor/Movie Consultant Lou Kasischke on Radio Stations Nationwide

AFTER THE WIND Book Offers Dramatic New Look at the '96 Tragedy

NEW YORK, Jan. 13, 2016 — (PRNewswire) — After the Wind: Tragedy on Everest - One Survivor's Story, Lou Kasischke's riveting tale of survival on the disastrous 1996 Mount Everest expedition, is getting a major new round of attention with the DVD release of Everest from Universal Pictures on January 19.

Everest survivor and movie consultant Kasischke will be part of a 250+ radio station book promotion and round of interviews to discuss his version of what really happened on that fateful trip.

Kasischke, a retired lawyer and venture capital advisor, commented, "I wrote this book sixteen years ago, but put it away, and why I chose to publish it now is part of the larger story the reader will find in After the Wind."

He added: "After The Wind tells the Everest story that Into Thin Air doesn't tell. So, in that sense, each book compliments the other. My book has a materially different focus of what went wrong, but it is not a response to Into Thin Air. The two books actually highlight a fascinating question: How can people in the same situation experience it differently?"

Two recent book reviews have pointed out his new viewpoint: "Kasischke's perspective and analysis . . . may shock those who have relied on Into Thin Air as the most accurate account of what happened." (New York Book Festival Award) and "Kasischke's miraculous account of survival is paired with the love story of his connection with his wife Sandy. Intense and profound." (Midwest Book Review)

Emmy Award-winning actor Mark Derwin plays Kasischke in Everest.

After the Wind, in both the hardcover and paperback editions, has been rushed backed to press for more copies to meet sales demand. A new Conversation With the Author and Discussion Questions For Book Groups at the back of the paperback add to the book's appeal to outdoors, adventure, climbing, and sports readers, as well as to members of reading groups.

After the Wind has already received six book awards, including the Winner of the National Excellence Book Award for Memoir and Adventure and the Gold Medal: Benjamin Franklin Book Award for Best Voice in Nonfiction.
