Arithmetica Reveals 360 Imaging and 3D Laser Modeling Tech at Museums and Heritage Show

May 9, 2016 -- The Museums and Heritage Show, taking place at London’s Olympia, 18-19 May 2016, will feature the latest 360 degree video recording systems and laser scan 3D modeling software from Arithmetica. A specialist in developing ground breaking software solutions, Arithmetica has already completed a number of projects within the cultural sector and will be showcasing its work with the Flax Museum ‘Texture’ in Belgium and the Historic Royal Palaces in the UK.

The SphereVision video recording system includes high definition cameras for recording 360 degree images and video, as well as software designed to view, share and integrate immersive content. SphereVision can also be used to create virtual reality simulations utilizing the latest head mounted display technology. Arithmetica’s Pointfuse software, meanwhile, offers a fast, precise and flexible way of converting the vast point cloud datasets generated by laser scanners - which are increasingly being used to capture artifacts, historical buildings and archaeological sites.

“Recording, preserving and understanding historic and culturally important artifacts and environments is essential, but the museums and heritage sector is not static. In order to succeed, it must engage and communicate with a range of audiences, from visitors of any age to stakeholders,” commented Mark Senior, Business Development Manager at Arithmetica. “This progression of record, capture, process and share is at the heart of the Arithmetica product range. With our SphereVision recording and playback systems, a complex installation or environment can be recorded in a matter of minutes and the data stored, integrated with other media, and presented to different audiences in different environments.

“We are also excited to be showcasing the soon to be launched Pointfuse V2. Laser scanners are being used more and more in conservation and restoration, and Pointfuse V2 gives users the ability to generate 3D geometry automatically and in a matter of minutes, regardless of the source of the point cloud.”

The Museums and Heritage show is the UK’s largest trade event for the cultural sector. Taking place in London’s Olympia West on the 18-19 May, the event provides a platform for more the 2,000 key decision makers from Heritage and Cultural attractions across the UK and abroad to meet with potential suppliers. From security and insurance to audio-visual installations, animatronics, play equipment, retail solutions, conservation and restoration, the Museums and Heritage Show will feature solutions for every aspect of the sector. The show is free to attend and includes two days of free talks, demos, supplier masterclasses and networking.
